Best Sunset Spots in Labuan Bajo: Where to End the Day

Written by the Casa de Capulet team

Labuan Bajo faces west over the national park islands. Sunset here is not a bonus feature, it is one of the best things about being in town. Here are the spots that make the most of it.

Who This Is For

Anyone staying in Labuan Bajo who wants to know where to spend the last hour of the day.

Paradise Bar

This is the most popular sunset spot in town for a reason. It sits above the harbour with a clear west-facing view over the islands. The crowd is mixed, the drinks arrive cold, and there is enough atmosphere to feel lively without being completely unbearable.

The trade-off is popularity. It fills up before sunset, so it is worth arriving early if you want a front table.

Sylvia Hill

Sylvia Hill is the better landscape view and the less crowded option, but it takes a little more effort. About 12 km from town, it is easiest by scooter or private driver. If you want a quieter, more photographic sunset with more sky and less bar scene, this is usually the better choice.

Puncak Waringin

Puncak Waringin is the easy local option. It is a short uphill walk from the harbour area, free, and gives a strong view without needing transport or a drink minimum.

The Harbour Promenade

The simplest option is also a good one. Watching the light change from the harbour road while fishing boats move in and the night market starts up has its own appeal. No planning required.

From the Water

If you are on a boat at golden hour, you may already have the best sunset setup available. Watching the sun drop behind the islands from the water is a different experience to anything on land. Evening harbour cruises make this accessible without needing a full day charter.

Photography Notes

The best light often lasts a little longer than people expect. About 15 minutes either side of actual sunset is usually strongest, but the colour can stay beautiful after the sun has already dropped below the horizon. Do not put your camera away too early.

A note for Casa de Capulet guests

If you want a current recommendation before heading out, ask the team. Sunset spots shift a bit as new places open and old ones fade.
