Labuan Bajo punches above its weight on food. For a town its size, the range is genuinely good: fresh seafood landed daily, strong Indonesian cooking, a growing international scene, and a night market that rivals anywhere in the region for value. Here is where to spend your mealtimes.
Who This Is For
Visitors to Labuan Bajo who want to know where to eat well across different price points and cuisines.
The Lay of the Land
Most restaurants sit along two areas: the main harbour road, Jalan Soekarno Hatta, and the surrounding streets behind it. The harbour road is where the more tourist-oriented restaurants concentrate. The back streets are where you find the better-value local food. The night market occupies the harbour road each evening from around 18:00.
For Seafood
Warung di Tepi Pantai and similar harbour-front warungs serve freshly grilled fish and prawns in the local style, charcoal grilled with sambal, rice, and a cold Bintang. Simple, honest, and very good. Look for places where the fish is displayed raw and you choose your own.
The night market is the best-value seafood in town. You pick your protein from a fresh display, it is cooked to order, and you eat at plastic chairs by the water. Busy, local, and exactly right.
Kisik Seafood and Grill and Taman Laut Handayani Seafood Restaurant are the more established seafood restaurants with proper tables, menus, and a view. Good for a longer dinner without the night market chaos.
For Indonesian Food
Local warungs in the streets behind the main strip serve nasi campur, mie goreng, soto, and the daily specials that make Indonesian food what it is. Ask your hotel team where to find the good ones, they shift and the best spots are rarely on the main drag.
For something specifically Flores, look for Jagung Bose and Roti Kompiang. Not every restaurant has these but they are worth finding.
For International Food
MadeinItaly is a reliable Italian restaurant that has been feeding tourists in Labuan Bajo for years. Pizza and pasta at fair prices. Good for a night when you want something straightforward.
Bajo Brewing Company is not just about the beer. The food menu is solid and the atmosphere is relaxed. Good burgers, bar snacks, and a social crowd. One of the better evening spots in town.
For Coffee and Breakfast
Escape Bajo and similar harbour-facing cafes open from 07:00 to 08:00 and serve proper coffee and breakfast plates. Several source Flores Bajawa coffee locally, which is earthy, full-bodied, and worth asking for specifically.
For a quick and cheap breakfast, any local warung serving nasi goreng or bubur gives you more food for less money than the tourist cafes.
For a Proper Evening Out
Paradise Bar is the most-visited evening spot in Labuan Bajo for good reason. The position above the harbour is excellent, the drinks are cold, and it fills up well before sunset. Arrive early if you want a table with the best view. The food is secondary to the setting but perfectly fine.
La Cecile and Copper Bonnet Bistro & Bar are the options for a more considered dinner, proper menus, attentive service, and the kind of meal you book for a birthday or a last night in town.
What Changes
Labuan Bajo’s restaurant scene moves quickly. New places open and old favourites change hands. The recommendations above reflect what has been consistently strong, but the team at Casa de Capulet will always have more current intelligence than any published list.
