The rules changed in April 2026, and most of what you’ll read online is out of date. Here is the short version. Foreign visitors pay a flat IDR 250,000 entrance fee per person per day, the same every day of the week. The old weekend surcharge is gone. On top of that you’ll pay a small harbour fee, a ranger fee shared across your group, and activity surcharges if you dive. Budget around IDR 300,000 to 350,000 per person for a standard day trip, before the boat itself.
The bigger change is not the money. It’s that you can no longer just turn up. Komodo now runs a daily visitor cap, and every ticket has to be booked in advance through the park’s SiOra system. Your boat operator handles it, but only if you book your trip a few days ahead.

What changed in April 2026
One flat entrance fee. IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, weekdays and weekends alike. Indonesian citizens with a KTP pay IDR 5,000. Children under 5 enter free. Children 5 to 12 pay half.
A daily visitor cap. The park now admits a maximum of 1,000 visitors per day, split by site: roughly 350 for Komodo Island, 300 for Rinca, 200 for Padar and 150 for the Manta Point area. When a site’s quota is gone, it’s gone. In peak season (June to August) slots can sell out two to three weeks ahead.
No walk-in tickets. All entries are booked through the park’s online system, SiOra, and only licensed operators can register visitors. You cannot book yourself in as an individual. Entries are also tied to timed sessions across the day, and tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
The practical upshot: the days of booking a boat the night before are over, at least in high season. Sort your Komodo day before you sort anything else about your trip.

So a couple doing a standard day trip (Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo, Manta Point) pays two entrance fees, two harbour fees and a share of two ranger fees. Roughly IDR 650,000 to 700,000 between them, on top of the boat. Divers add the surcharge per day in the water.
These park fees are almost always collected by your operator as part of the trip price or as a separate park fees line. Ask which it is when you book, so you’re not comparing a boat price that includes fees against one that doesn’t.
How booking works now

- Book your Komodo trip at least 3 to 4 days ahead. Two to three weeks in June, July and August.
- Your operator registers your names in SiOra against the daily quota and your entry session.
- You get a QR code ticket. Digital is fine, no printing needed.
- Bring your passport on the day. Names are checked against the registration.
If an operator tells you quota is full for your date, that’s real, not a sales tactic. Your options are a different date or a different site mix. Rinca instead of Komodo Island often has space, and the dragons are the same.
Tips and mistakes to avoid
- Don’t leave the Komodo day to the end of your stay to see the weather. Under the quota system the boat you want may not have slots. Book the trip first, build the rest around it.
- Ask every operator whether park fees are included in the quoted price. It’s the most common cause of price-comparison confusion at the harbour.
- Leave the drone at home unless IDR 2,000,000 per day sounds reasonable to you.
- Keep small cash for the harbour fee in case your operator collects it separately on the day.
- If you’re diving, the surcharge applies per day, not per dive.
