Komodo National Park Entrance Fees Explained (2025–2026)

Written by the Casa de Capulet team

The fee structure for Komodo National Park is more layered than a single ticket price, and confusing information online leads many visitors to arrive under-prepared. This breaks it all down so you know exactly what to expect.

Who This Is For

Anyone planning a day trip, diving trip, or liveaboard through Komodo National Park who wants to understand what they will be charged and why.

The Basic Entry Fee

  • IDR 150,000 on weekdays
  • IDR 250,000 on weekends and public holidays

This covers entry to the park. It does not cover the additional fees below.

Island-Specific Fees

Each island you step onto within the park carries an additional fee of IDR 120,000–150,000 per island. If your day trip includes Komodo Island, Rinca Island, and Padar Island, you pay island entry fees for each separately.

Activity Fees

On top of entry and island fees, activities are charged separately:

  • Snorkelling: IDR 50,000 per person
  • Diving: IDR 100,000 per person

These are paid at the ranger post of the relevant site.

Ranger Guide Fees

A licensed ranger must accompany all trekking groups on Komodo and Rinca islands. Ranger fees are typically IDR 80,000–150,000 per group depending on trail length. This is included in most organised day trips but worth confirming if you are arranging anything independently.

Drone Permits

Flying a drone in Komodo National Park requires an official permit costing IDR 2,000,000 per unit. The approval process takes up to 3 working days. Apply well before you arrive. Same-day permits are not issued, and drones flown without a permit can be confiscated.

The 2026 Visitor Cap

From April 2026, a hard daily limit of 1,000 visitors applies across the entire Komodo National Park. During high season (July to October), available slots book out 3–6 months ahead. Last-minute park visits are effectively impossible in peak season. Book your boat trip early.

How to Pay

Most fees are paid in cash at ranger posts on arrival at each island. Not all locations accept card payment. Bring sufficient rupiah. Tour operators usually pay fees on your behalf and include them in the quoted price. Confirm this before booking.

Are Fees Included in Day Trip Prices?

Sometimes, and sometimes not. Always ask: “Does this price include all Komodo National Park entrance and activity fees?” Get clarity before you commit.
